Privacy Policy
Overview
Attune is an offline-first Android application. It does not connect to the internet, does not collect personal information, and does not transmit any data to external servers or third parties. All data you create in Attune stays on your device.
Information We Collect
Attune does not collect any personal information. The app stores the following data locally on your device, in a private application folder:
- Your food library (food names and tags)
- Your meals (the foods eaten, portion size, notes, and timestamps)
- Your check-ins (overall feel ratings, symptom severities, notes, and timestamps)
- App settings and preferences (check-in timing, notification preferences, and your symptom configuration)
None of this data is linked to your identity, uploaded anywhere, or shared with any third party. Health-related information you log, such as symptoms, never leaves your device.
How We Use Your Data
Data stored by Attune is used solely to operate the app's features on your device:
- Displaying your meals, check-ins, and history
- Calculating correlations between foods and how you feel for the analysis views
- Scheduling check-in reminders after meals at the times you configure
- Restoring app state between sessions
Notifications
Attune can send optional reminder notifications a configurable time after each meal to prompt you to record how you feel. Notifications are scheduled locally on your device using the Android notification system — no remote push service is used. You can disable notifications, or silence them temporarily, at any time in the app settings or in your Android system settings.
Export & Import
Attune includes an optional export feature. You can export your full data as a JSON file through Android's standard share sheet. Import is handled through Android's system file picker. Neither process routes data through any server — all file operations are local and on-device. You choose what you do with exported files.
Permissions Required
Attune requests only the permissions needed for features you actively use:
- Notifications — used to send check-in reminders after meals at times you configure. Required on Android 13 and later
- Storage Access Framework — used for the optional import and export features. Android manages file access through the system file picker and share sheet; no broad storage permission is required
Attune does not request access to your camera, photos, contacts, location, microphone, or any other sensitive system resource beyond the above.
Data Storage & Security
All app data is stored in a private application folder that belongs to Attune and is not accessible to other apps. This data is removed when you uninstall Attune. If you have Android's built-in backup enabled, your device OS may back up app data to your Google account; this is governed by Google's privacy policy, not ours.
Data Sharing
Attune does not share any data with third parties. There are no analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, advertising networks, or external APIs integrated into the app.
Deleting Your Data
You can delete all data stored by Attune at any time by clearing the app's data in your Android settings (Settings → Apps → Attune → Storage → Clear Data), or by uninstalling the app.
Children's Privacy
Attune does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app collects no personal information from any user, regardless of age.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a revised effective date. Continued use of Attune after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
